Like in many other games with achievements based on difficulty ("Finish game on normal", "Finish game on hard", etc) there could be achievements for ironman mode and for regular games ("The Three Mountains - Conquer the World as Ryukyu." + "The Three Mountains of Iron- Conquer the World as Ryukyu in Ironman Mode." or something like that). It's probably to late now to make changes to the achievement system but I think the best solution might have been two "categories" of achievements. I just tried it for a couple of minutes and I can't see myself playing it much (I like to have several savegames per playthrough so I can replay interesting outcomes with different nations I don't like the "lucky nations" option the constant saving is annoying, even more so if the time the game needs to save will increase like in other Paradox games after playing for a while).

It's not actually a big deal but still, unlocking achievements in other games usually is a fun thing to do, so it would have been nice to have a less restrictive system in EUIV.Įspecially as they don't just need an unmodded game but playing in ironman mode as well. I rarely play Paradox games without mods after the first couple of days after release, so I probably won't get many of the achievements. The way I see it all the cheaters would do is taking the fun out of getting the achievements for themselves while nobody else would be affected in any way.

Would it really matter if players could get achievements "illegitimately"? There are no online leaderboards for EUIV or anything like that. Allowing achievements in modded games would make it possible to get them really easy with "cheat mods".
